Jonathan Ericsson: enormous, skilled, kind of dumb. Had an appendectomy, then checked himself out of the hospital to go watch the game because the hospital didn't have it on tv. No, really. He went and did that. The day of the surgery.

"I didn't have anywhere to watch the game, so they took me in a wheelchair to the car and I kind of stumbled in here in the locker room right after surgery,'' Ericsson said. "My girlfriend drove me home.''

Nicklas Lidstrom, who also missed the game due to injury, said Ericsson was lying on a couch in the players lounge.

"I told him to rest, you don't have to sit up and do anything,'' Lidstrom said.
